In the department of Tarn, the lovely village of Penne, dominated by the ruins of its castle, is set in a wild and unspoilt environment.
Set off along the picturesque alleyway of the old town, lined with pretty houses, which will lead you to the medieval fortress, a perfect example of Occitan military architecture. Discover a huge front door, an inner courtyard where parties and banquets were once given, and the remains of the keep at the top of the castle. Popular with children and adults, the site also offers an interpretation trail so you can learn all about this medieval masterpiece.
When you reach the top of this rocky peak, take a good look at the view. Grésigne Forest, the Aveyron Gorges, the Gaillac vineyards and of course the village downhill stretch out before you like a wonderful landscape painting!
