A major site in the town of Diablintes, founded by the Romans in the 1st century AD, the Gallo-Roman archaeological site of Noviodunum, located in the current commune of Jublains, boasts a glorious past. Reminders of this include the remains of the temple, Thermal Baths, theatre and fortress, in several locations around the town. The Thermal Baths, which can be seen under the current church and feature in a sound and light show; the imposing fortress, an old fortified warehouse where precious metals and taxes in kind are thought to have been stored while in transit; the huge tiered theatre built circa 80 AD; the reconstructed Roman streets... All these places make Jublains a dream destination for lovers of Antique heritage! Near the fortress stands the unmissable departmental archaeological museum, which displays collections of pottery, jewellery and objects from the main Gallo-Roman archaeological sites in Mayenne. There is also a big scale model of the Antique town of Noviodunum.
There are many activities and guided tours all year round. In the summer, a show takes place at Jublains Roman theatre, as part of the Mayenne Nights festival (Nuits de Mayenne).
